The aim of the announcement "Promotion of female AI junior researchers" of June 19, 2019, is to increase the proportion of qualified women in leading positions in German AI research and to strengthen the influence of female scientists on the subject area in the long term. The focus is on the research of AI questions on novel and innovative topics by junior research groups led by women. Young female scientists from the fields of computer science, mathematics, physics, linguistics,

neuro- and cognitive sciences, psychology, or related disciplines, as well as from AI-related specializations in areas of application, are funded. To advance research on AI in Germany further and increase the responsible participation of outstandingly qualified women in the science system. The funding of junior research groups intends to allow women scientists the opportunity to conduct independent research, strengthen their scientific profile, and increase their visibility.
